Cottage by the forest

A cottage hidden among the trees. Simple rectangular shape, natural materials, pitched roof. The result is a building that is contemporary but still in keeping with the spirit of the place.
Inside, a modern interior - airy, practical and easy to maintain. Large windows connect the inner tranquility with the surrounding greenery, the silence of the forest permeates through to the inside.

And where you discover that sometimes "a little" means everything.

The original plan was simple: preserve the stone plinth of the old cottage and build a new structure on top of it. But reality showed something else - the plinth was composed of loose stones and started to crumble during the probing.
New construction was the only safe way. The catch? No new huts are allowed in the area. The result was a series of meetings with the building authority and finally approval for a building that honours the spirit of the original hut but stands strong, safe and new.
If there is a will and a good design, a solution will be found.
